Shaboozey and Kreshendo Entertainment draw | News

Just days after becoming a country star Shaboozey When Warner Chappell and his former record label filed suit, the label responded with a lawsuit of its own.

Accordingly BillboardShaboozey, real name Collins Obinna Chibueze, filed suit against Kreshendo Entertainment on Wednesday, August 21. The singer claims that Warner is blocking his exit from a publishing management contract due to Kreshendo's influence, despite him having already terminated his contract with the label in 2019.

Two days later, Kreshendo filed a countersuit against Shaboozey, claiming that they still owned the crucial rights to his music.

While the company admitted to releasing Shaboozey from his record deal in 2019, it argued that this decision came with significant conditions. In particular, Kreshendo retained a 50 percent ownership share in the singer's compositions and the right to receive a share of profits from his masters.

Kreshendo explained that these conditions were intended as compensation for supporting the then unknown artist.

The label now accuses Shaboozey of using “a strategy of fraud and misrepresentation to deprive the plaintiffs of their contractual rights” instead of complying with the terms.

The lawsuit also alleges that Shaboozey repeatedly violated the severance agreement, including failing to pay requested compensation and engaging in disputes with Warner, as he detailed in his own lawsuit earlier this week.

Shaboozey has not yet responded to the new lawsuit.
