Man accused of knife attack in Dorchester arrested for assault in April

A 38-year-old Massachusetts man was released while awaiting trial on assault charges, but is now suspected of carrying out a fatal stabbing attack.

David Adams of Dorchester is accused of stabbing 52-year-old David Abrain of Roxbury on Dorchester Avenue around 10 p.m. Friday, according to Boston police. Adams was arraigned on murder charges Monday in Boston Municipal Court in Dorchester, where a judge revoked his bail on the assault case.

Court records show that a not guilty plea was entered on Adams' behalf. A request by Adams' attorney to call a medical expert was granted.

In April, Adams was arrested for assault on a household member. He was released on bond after being charged, records show.

A jury trial on the charge was scheduled for September, according to court records. Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden's office did not immediately respond to a request for information on the case.

Adams will return to court on September 26 for a probation hearing on the murder charge.
